M. Angela Scurry is a passionate advocate for community support and human development, currently residing in Las Vegas, Nevada. Originally hailing from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, Angela experienced the impacts of segregation and desegregation within the educational system, instilling a unique perspective on life’s diverse outcomes.
After spending two decades in a well-known outpatient medical practice in Las Vegas, Angela held multiple leadership positions in Human Resources, where the focus was on employee engagement and staff development. Navigating life as a young single parent, Angela learned to overcome challenges. She remained committed to personal growth, ultimately completing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services Management and an MBA at a later point in her career.
Deeply invested in community betterment, Angela seeks opportunities to give back and help others achieve their life goals. This commitment has led to various initiatives, including facilitating re-entry programs for inmates in the Nevada Department of Corrections, hosting foreign exchange students from countries like India, South Korea, and Egypt, and volunteering with PAYBAC (Professional and Youth Building A Commitment) to mentor at-risk youth. Additionally, Angela has supported initiatives such as Black Image Magazine and participated in breast cancer awareness events for five years.
In July 2021, Angela was appointed State of Nevada Human Resources Board commissioner. Following the acquisition of the outpatient medical practice in 2022, Angela launched an HR consulting service focused on employee engagement and leadership development. Now in the third year of this venture, Angela looks forward to continued success as a small business owner while fostering growth and opportunity for the Las Vegas community.
